Sue's Reviews: Across the Universe

It was about a year ago that I saw the first trailer for Across the Universe, and it looked fantastic. What could go wrong with a musical featuring all Beatles songs and starring a guy that looks like Albert from Little House on the Prairie?

Sue's Reviews: The Heartbreak Kid

When I first hear the title The Heartbreak Kid, I thought it sounded like a 30-year-old TV movie starring Kristy McNichol. Little did I know it actually was a 30-year-old movie starring Cybill Shepherd, and the new Farrelly Brothers movie was a loose remake.

Sue's Reviews: May Sequels

28 Weeks Later: I enjoyed the original 28 Days Later, but I was not impressed with this sequel.

Smokin' Bat's Breath! Voyagers! DVD to Release on July 17th

Sunday nights in 1982 were not about 60 Minutes for this nine-year-old. They were all about Bogg and Jeffrey, and their time-traveling adventures on NBC's Voyagers!. Nothing got my chores done faster than the possibility of missing that theme song.

Sue's Reviews: Blades of Glory and Grindhouse

Anyone with a few extra bucks to spend is in luck – there are some surprisingly good choices at the theater this month.

'Survivor' Heading to China for Season 15

CBS has booked China as the location for the next edition of "Survivor," and locked in premiere dates for two key summer reality shows -- including Mark Burnett's "Pirate Master."

Sue's Reviews: Sweet Land

I finally had an opportunity to see Sweet Land in a second-run theater a month or so ago. Independent, low-budget movies like Sweet Land sometimes never make it to smaller cities like mine, victims of the relentless wave of forgettable blockbusters.

Sue's Reviews: 300

Good news, ladies! 300 provides the perfect male equivalent to lingerie, and believe it or not, it's a red cape and a leather diaper. Bad news for your partners, you might grow a mustache from all the residual testosterone.

Sue's Reviews: Pan's Labyrinth

I saw The Number 23 last week, but writing a review about that steaming pile of mediocrity after seeing Pan's Labyrinth proved to be difficult. Joel Schumacher should have stayed away from that one, and I should have too. Pan's Labyrinth is in a completely different class.

Sue's Reviews: Dreamgirls

I love musicals. Even the bad ones have a certain charm, am I right, all you Xanadu and Grease 2 fans? The heavily-hyped Dreamgirls promised some great music and some great performances. The music didn't disappoint. But an Oscar-quality acting performances was nowhere to be found.

Sue's Reviews: Catch and Release

Damn that Zach Braff. Ever since his Garden State Soundtrack helped catapult a mediocre movie into cult status, Hollywood has been giving music some cushy starring roles.

Sue's Reviews: Dismal December

My December trips to the theater left me feeling like I did when I opened up new underwear on Christmas morning – a little disappointed.

Sue's Reviews: Casino Royale and Happy Feet

I was lucky enough to find myself in a theater not once, but twice during the Thanksgiving holiday - or as I like to call it, a wonderful beginning to an extra happy and joyous holiday season.

Sue's Reviews: Stranger Than Fiction

The most entertaining moment in Stranger Than Fiction came as the credits rolled and my siblings and I were walking out of the theater. A young woman behind us said, "Wow, that wasn't what I expected!" I agreed.

Sue's Reviews: The Prestige

I expected a lot from The Prestige. Not only is the movie about rival magicians, but it boasts names like Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Christopher Nolan, all of whom are capable of creating a little movie magic all by themselves. Darn those high expectations.

Sue's Reviews: Hollywoodland

Ah, autumn. If we believed every quote on movie posters and commercials from now until the end of the year, every drama released would be an Oscar shoo-in.

Sue's Reviews: Crank

Jason Statham and I have a love/hate relationship. He has got to be the most charismatic pig that I have ever had the pleasure and misfortune of viewing on the big screen. After watching Statham's latest movie, Crank, I admit that I was entertained.

Sue's Reviews: The Last Kiss

I am getting old. It became obvious to me while recently watching The Breakfast Club. Instead of ogling over Judd Nelson as I once did, I found myself thinking, "You know, SOMEONE has to put all those cards back in the card catalog in the correct order." It was a sad moment.

Sue's Reviews: Amazing Race 10

Welcome back, Phil old friend! The Amazing Race fills a void that no amount of Big Brother ever could. Sunday's premiere episode had all the familiar elements, and one lame twist.

Bob Seger Dumps Chevrolet

after watching Al Gore's global-warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth, Seger admits he is starting to see the beauty in smaller, more environmentally-friendly vehicles and his love affair with Chevrolet is over. You rock, Bob Seger!

Sue's Reviews: Invincible

You would think a movie based on the life of Vince Papale would write itself. The true(ish) story of how the 30-year old bartender/substitute teacher earned a place on the 1976 Philadelphia Eagles football team sounds like a shoo-in for Feel-Good-Movie of the Year.

Guy Goma Goof to Become Movie?

Producer Alison Rosenweig plans to bring Guy Goma's story of mistaken identity to the big screen. Didn't we already see it in 1992 starring Dolly Parton?

Sue's Reviews: The Descent

I hate most women in horror movies. I get tired of their screaming and their tripping and their perfectly tousled hair and their pathetic dependence on men.

Sue's Reviews: Clerks 2

Like movie critic Joel Siegel, I too found one scene in Clerks 2 utterly repulsive. It involved a man doing something that, well, all I can say is that I had to close my eyes and cover my ears and go to my happy place until it was over.

Sue's Reviews: Cars

My husband calls me names like "Movie Nazi" when we watch movies together. According to him, anyone who didn't cry at the frozen baby in Titanic is completely void of emotion.
